Mothers. Daughters. When was the last time a book of fiction had you exploring the ‘push and pull’ nature of your mother and daughter relationship?
I’m currently reading Alice Hoffman’s latest novel, Magic Lessons, the prequel to her Practical Magic series. One particular line that grabbed me so far, “There are none who can fight as fiercely as a mother and a daughter, and none who can forgive more completely”.
The novel is magical realism embedded with historical details and continues the story of the powerful women of the Owens family.
A really great day is a stormy one when, trapped indoors, I can disappear into a book. So … LET IT RAIN!
